Assam is a marvelous state rich in traditional heritage and culture. The silk fabrics of Assam are renowned across the world for their grandeur. Assam is famous for special kind of Silk production unique to the region. Assam silks are mainly 3 types namely Eri, Muga and Pat (mulberry) silk. We provide precise local experiences during our textile tour in Assam. With our Assam textile tour, you can explore the weaver's villages catch the textile-making process and know about the history and culture of Assam.
We take you to the weaver's villages and demonstrate the process of weaving using a handloom. Witness the artisans of the land creating magic from their handlooms. Take this opportunity to meet the local craftsmen from different villages and observe the process of how silkworms were born grow and turn into golden thread. Apart from this you can relish local food and drink and go for walk around the villages. This 6-day trip takes you through an experience in a rich, diverse cultural journey, complete with historical context, wrapped with local interactions.

Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati On arriving at Guwahati airport/railway station our representative will meet and welcome you to your hotel. After some refreshments, we will take you to Assam State Museum and go for a ropeway ride. In the evening you can go for a stroll around the Fancy Bazaar market.

Day 2 Guwahati - Sualkuchi Early morning after breakfast visit the Tantrik temple of India Kamakhya temple and then proceed to Silk village Sualkuchi which is renowned as Manchester of Assam. On reaching we see the Silk Museum in Sualkuchi and then visit the home of artisans involved in the weaving of Silk. We see the silk weaving process, operated handloom and dying process and notice the various process involved in preparing cloth. In the evening visit another ancient temple of Assam Hayagriv Madhav temple. It is a sacred Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage constructed in the 15th century. Post that returns to Guwahati and go for a sunset river cruise on the river Brahmaputra. Evening at leisure in the hotel.

Day 3 Guwahati - Majuli Today morning after breakfast we take you to Majuli island of Assam. It takes around 8-9hrs to reach the island. The journey also involves 1 hour of ferry ride via the Brahmaputra river. On reaching check-in at the hotel. Spend the evening at rest or go for a stroll around the village.

Majuli: Majuli is the heart of Neo-Vashnavite culture. Neo Vaishnavism is followed by most people from Assam. Majuli is famous for neo vaishnavite satras(temple), tribal villages and scenic village life. Satras of the island Satras preserve art, folk culture like dance,theater(Bhaona) and Prayers(Naam) and heritage of the Ahom kingdom. It is also a favourite sport for bird lovers. We take you to Mising tribal villages where women produced most of the cloth required for the family using handloom and hand weaving. They produce colourful clothes made from cotton as their daily wear.

Day 4 Majuli Today morning start your day with a visit to the main satras of the island namely Auniati satra, Garmur satra. Later we will visit Mising tribal village and see the process of cloth weaving. Post that visits the mask maker satra(Samaguri Satra) and take a demonstration of the world-famous mask of Majuli island made from indigenous material which depict character from Indian mythology. After that enjoy the scenic beauty of the island and go for a sightseeing tour. Return to your resort in the evening and take rest.

Day 5

Majuli - Dhemaji
Early morning after breakfast proceed to Dhemaji to see the weaver village and silk farming. It takes around 2.5 hour to reach. On reaching check-in at the hotel.
Dhemaji: It is the origin of Muga and Eri Silk of Assam. It is the hub of Sericulture/silk farming in Assam. You can get a first-hand experience in the cultivation of silkworms. Here you can see the sikwarm farming and the rearing process of cocoon at villagers home.
After some refreshments, we take you to weavers village. On reaching the weaver's village go for a walk through this lovely Assamese village, and visit the home of one or two weavers for a demonstration. Enjoy some local meals at night and take a rest.

Night stay at Dhemaji/Dibrugarh.

Day 6 Dibrugarh - Departure
Today is the last day of our textile tour in Assam. After a sumptuous breakfast, with a heavy heart and lots of memory, we will drop you at Dibrugarh airport.

RESERVATION TERMS

  • Confirmation of Tour Package is subject to the remittance of 50% of the total tour cost in advance and rest to be paid prior to the commencing of the tour so as to reconfirm all the arrangements on definite arrival basis.
  • Slight alterations in the accommodation may become unavoidable due to unavailability of rooms in mentioned hotels, but the accommodation so provided will be of the same class.
  • Child below 5 yrs stay complimentary.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS

  • 30 days before the commencement of the tour: 10% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • 15 days before the commencement of the tour: 25% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • Less than 15 days before the commencement of the tour: 50% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • Less than 07 days before the commencement of the tour: 100% of the tour cost will be levied. No refund is entitled "for no-shows".
