How to reach Sikkim
By Air
Bagdogra Airport is the nearest airport to Sikkim. It takes around 6 hrs (154 km) to reach Gangtok from Bagdogra Airport. It is well connected with all major cities of India.
Pakyong Airport is the nearest airport of Sikkim located in Pakyong Town, at a distance of 35 km from the state capital Gangtok. It is sparingly connected with major cities of India since it is opened newly in 2019.
Helicopter service is also available from Bagdogra to Gangtok
By Rail
Travel to Sikkim by train is the best way to reach Sikkim. New Jalpaiguri (188 km) and Siliguri (145 km) are two nearest railhead. These railway stations are well connected with major cities of India. You can further board a bus or hire a taxi to reach Sikkim. It takes around 4 hours to reach Gangtok from New Jalpaiguri. Shared taxi or Individual Taxis for hire are available to Gangtok from there.
By Road
National Highway 31A connects Sikkim to other states of India. The road journey to Sikkim is quite comfortable and it passes through lush green forests and Teesta River following you all through the way.
Gangtok is connected through bus service with various major cities of India like Siliguri, Bagdogra, Jalpaiguri and Kolkata.
