Weinia Falls
Weinia Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder located in the West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya near Nongkhnum island. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the fall from the Nongkhnum Island beach. Plunging from a height of around a thousand feet it is one of the best waterfalls in Meghalaya.
Nongkhnum Island
Nongkhnum Island is the prime attraction of Nongstoin. Located about 14 Kms from Nongstoin, it is known as the 2nd largest river island. Architectural wonder Weinia bridge is the entry point of Nongkhnum Island. Shrouded with trees and large patches of grasslands, the island offers a rejoicing holiday for everyone. There are plenty of fishing pools available near the sandy shore beach to enjoy angling. It is a place of immense scenic beauty and is often favoured by visitors as a picnic spot. Several beautiful waterfalls and picturesque weinia bridge is the main attraction of Nogkhum island. You can also reach there by boating from it sore.
Kyllang Rock
It is a several million years old massive dome shaped rock of granite which rise at an elevation of about 5400 ft above sea level. The rock can be accessed from the northern and eastern flanks. It is believed that the rock possesses some sort of magnetic field, so no one will fall from the slope. The road to Kyllang rock is pleasant and scenic. In its southern site, enormous detached blocks of rock are located and dense forests of age-old red, white rhododendron trees and oaks trees are found. On the other hand several ponds found on its northern side.
Jakrem
Jakrem Hot spring is a beautiful location famous for the old hot water spring of sulfur water. Situated at a distance of 64km from Shillong on the Shillong-Mawkyrwat road it is a stunning destination near Nongstoin. These hot springs are believed to have medicinal properties. Bathing compartments are available in the spring for the public. It is a popular picnic spot for local and tourist and scenic stopover on the way to Mawsynram. The location has gradually evolved into a health resort that attracts visitors from all over the world who come to soak in the hot spring.
Ranikor
Ranikor is a small town located on the border of India and Bangladesh, at a distance of 140 km from Shillong. It is a paradise for angling lovers. Various species of fishes like Golden Mahseers, Golden Carp, Silver Carp and Common Carp are foundhere. The dark blue waters of Jadukata river and magnificent cantilever Jaduguda Bridge is very pleasing.
Mawranglang
Mawranglang is a beautiful valley located in the South West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya 5 kilometers away from Mawkyrwat. You can stop at Mawranglang Viewpoint and enjoy the scenic beauty closely. It is a beautiful valley on the Nongstoin-Mawkyrwat road. It is convenient picnic and angling spot. A giant monolith park Mawkyrduk Monolith, Tynrong is having surreal monolith and stunning landscapes. Mawranglang is about 80 kilometers away from Shillong.
Pamphyrnai lake
Situated around 10 km from Nongstoin at Ksehkohlong it is a picturesque lake surrounded by lush green hills. Nestled between hillocks, the total area of the lake is about 2.2 hectares which is about three times the size of Wards Lake and the average depth is about 12 ft. Annual angling completion is held here to promote tourism.
