Itinerary
- Begin your journey early to make the most of the day. Pobitora National Park is approximately 60 km from Guwahati, and the drive takes about 1 - 1.5 hours.
- Arrive at Pobitora National Park.
- Jeep Safari: Embark on a thrilling jeep safari to explore the park. Pobitora is famous for its high density of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses, so keep your camera ready! During the safari, you'll also spot various species of birds, wild buffalo, and other wildlife native to the region.
- After Jeep safari you can enjoy a local breakfast or lunch in a nearby restaurant.
Enjoy a traditional Assamese lunch at a nearby restaurant or resort. Savor local delicacies like fish curry, rice, and green vegetables.
(Note: If you want to experience elephant ride then start early in the morning at 6 am from your hotel.) - If time permit later you can drive to the nearby Brahmaputra River for a serene boat ride at an extra cost. Enjoy the tranquil views and the possibility of spotting river dolphins. Return to Guwahati.

The jeep safari is a popular way to explore the park’s diverse habitats. The open jeep allows visitors to get up close to the wildlife, particularly the one-horned rhinos, which are often seen grazing in the grasslands. Each safari lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and it's recommended to book your safari in advance, especially during peak tourist season.

The best time to visit Pobitora National Park is between November and March. During this period, the weather is pleasant, and the chances of spotting wildlife are higher. The park remains closed during the monsoon season, typically from May to October, due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
Overview of Pobitora National Park
Location: Pobitora National Park is located in the Morigaon district of Assam, about 50 kilometers from Guwahati. Nestled in the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, this wildlife sanctuary is renowned for its dense population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Despite being relatively small, covering an area of just 38.8 square kilometers, Pobitora boasts one of the highest concentrations of these majestic creatures in the world.
Wildlife and Biodiversity: Pobitora is a treasure trove of biodiversity. Besides the famous one-horned rhinos, the park is home to a variety of other wildlife, including wild boars, Asiatic buffaloes, leopards, and a range of reptiles. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, hosting over 200 species of birds, both resident and migratory. During the winter months, the wetlands within the park attract numerous migratory birds, making it a prime destination for ornithologists.

Amazing Trip with Nexplore Travel
We did 15 days tribal tour in Northeast India with Nexplore. Our trip was amazing. Anushila, who helped us plan, was very good at answering our questions and making sure our trip was just what we wanted.

Beautiful, flexible and fun
We went to 5 days Assam tour with Nexplore. We booked this trip last minute (~week prior) and were immediately helped with scheduling tours of the Kaziranga park and major attractions. Anushila picked us up at the airport in the most welcoming way. They adjusted the tour for our requests to see a tea plantation and the city where most silk production occurs, Sualkuchi. Both of these were excellent additions and allowed us to witness the strength and beauty in Assamese craft. It was great all around
My son and I had a great wildlife trip in Northeast India organized by Nexplore Travel. In Assam we went to four National Parks. We saw elephants, rhinos, water buffalo, monkeys etc. It was great all around. Our driver was perfect.
Flawless travel. Places we stayed were excellent and the food was incredible.
I encountered some trouble myself health wise and these guys helped me to solve that problem. We would definitely come back and see more of the Northeast India.

Our trip was great
We have just returned from a 7 days family trip to Assam Meghalaya with Nexplore Travel. As we have two kids we were worried for them initially but our trip was perfect. When we were planning the trip, Anu was fantastic in helping us customise the trip to our requirements and suggesting different options.
We went to a few offbeat waterfalls in Meghalaya and the team is being happy to suggest different options and to be flexible. They also suggest the best places where we can travel safely with kids. wonderful trip
My husband and I went on an offbeat tour in Meghalaya for 5 days. We visited the Double Decker root bridge, Phe Phe falls, Krang Shuri falls, Shnongpdeng village, and many other hidden waterfalls in Cherrapunji. We had a great time!
