What is the best time to visit Kaziranga for rhino sightings?

February to April is best. The grass is shorter after the burning season, improving visibility. Early morning safaris (6–8 AM) give the best chances. November to December is also good.

Can I take both jeep safari and elephant safari at Kaziranga?

Yes. Elephant safaris operate early morning (5:30–7:30 AM) into tall grassland areas jeeps cannot reach. Jeep safaris cover multiple zones in morning and afternoon. Our 8-day itinerary includes both.

How long is the drive from Kaziranga to Shillong?

Approximately 200 km, taking 4.5–5.5 hours. The route passes through Guwahati, where we typically include a Kamakhya Temple stop to make the transfer a sightseeing day.

Day 01 Arrival at Guwahati

kamakhya temple Today is the first day of your 8 days Guwahati Shillong Cherrapunji tour packages. Our representative will receive you at Guwahati Airport/Railway station and assist you to your hotel.

After freshening up start your sightseeing with a visit to Kamakhya Temple. After that visit the state museum and get a glimpse of the state's culturally rich history, crafts, traditions, anthropology etc. Post that visit Brahmaputra River Heritage Center. In the evening enjoying a sunset cruise in the mighty Brahmaputra.
Alternatively, you can choose Assam State Zoo, Sankardev Kalakshetra and Balaji temple.

Night Stay in Guwahati

Day 02 Guwahati to Kaziranga National park (220Km/4hrs)

Wake up early morning have your breakfast and then drive to Kaziranga National Park.
Drive through the aromatic tea gardens and greenery and enjoy the nature's richness. It takes around 5 hr to reach Kaziranga from Guwahati.
On reaching check-in at your resort and relax for the night.

Day 03 Sight-seeing in Kaziranga

Kaziranga safari Wake up in the morning and go for a thrilling Jeep Safari in the park watch out for the range of exotic flora and fauna especially the one-horned rhinos, hog deer, wild elephants, buffalos, royal Bengal tiger and various birds.
After that visit Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity park After an exciting day relax for the night enjoying some local cuisines.

Day 04 Kaziranga- Shillong(278km/8hrs)

Today after having breakfast at hotel/resort, start our journey to Shillong from Kaziranga by road amidst the amazingly beautiful landscapes. Enroute stop at the Barapani lake (Umiam Lake) enjoy a cup of tea and indulge in boating and embrace the beauty of nature.
After reaching Shillong check in your hotel. Spend the evening at rest or go for a walk in a nearing market.

Day 05 Shillong Sightseeing

ward's lake On day 5 of Assam Meghalaya Kaziranga tour, wake up early morning and after breakfast start your day local visit in the Shillong city.
Today we go for some local explorations to the sites like the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians and relish its amazing architecture, Ward's Lake, a pretty artificial lake surrounded by gardens. Later we explore Elephant Falls, Sacred Groves in Mawphlang which has been preserved by its natives since ancient times.
In the evening you can go for shopping in the Police Bazaar and treat yourself with some local handicrafts.

Day 06 Shillong to Cherrapunji (54km/2hrs)

Cherrapunji Tour package Today morning after enjoying breakfast at hotel we set off for the scenic town, Cherrapunji, well known for receiving the highest rainfall in the country which also treats you with some amazing scenery. Here the temperature is lower than Shillong and mostly covered with fog in the monsoon and summer.

Start your tour with a thrilling experience by exploring the Mawsmai Cave and get amazed by this mother nature's creation. Then get mesmerized by the beauty of the breathtaking falls of Nohkalikai Waterfall and the Seven Sisters Falls. These waterfalls have their legends and watching them is not only a feast to the eye but also gives peace to the mind. By end of the day visit the Eco Park which gives you the view of the majestic hills and the gorgeous falls.

Night Stay in Cherrapunji

Day 07 Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong Village(81km/3hrs) and Dawki

After breakfast at the resort, set off for Mawlynnong Village, renowned as the cleanest village in Asia. Take a leisurely walk through the village and climb the Sky Walk for panoramic views of not just the village but also the vast Bangladesh plains. Following that, embark on a short trek to the famous Living Root Bridge in Riwai village, a marvel of natural engineering.

Next, head to Dawki, a serene town on the banks of the Umngot River. Here, enjoy a peaceful boat ride in the crystal-clear waters of Umngot river surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. Return to Shillong around 3-4 pm to rest for the night.

Day 08 Shillong - Guwahati(Departure)

Today is the last date of our Guwahati Shillong Meghalaya tour package. After having your breakfast return to Guwahati which takes around 3 - 3.5 hr. You can visit Meghalaya at any time of the year. But if you like waterfall and rain monsoon is the best season of Meghalaya. Apart from monsoon one can also visit Meghalaya during Christmas. Shillong the capital of Meghalaya celebrate Christmas with hues proms.
Best time to see crystal clear water in Dawki start from September. Winter is another best time to enjoy trekking in Meghalaya.

Kaziranga National Park open from October to May. And best time to see large number of wild animals is April. Most enjoyable time in Kaziranga is from November to February.

There are 3 ranges in Kaziranga National Park. Western and Central range is best for Jeep Safari in the park.

Yes, you can enjoy an early morning elephant safari, which operates in two batches. The first batch starts at 5:30 AM, and the second batch begins at 6:30 AM. Please note that elephant safari must be booked in advance, as availability is limited.
The jeep safari operates in two shifts: 8:00 AM in the morning and 2:00 PM in the afternoon. Each safari lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

The drive from Kaziranga to Shillong takes approximately 5 hours. If you start early in the morning, you can enjoy lunch at a restaurant along the way or take a few scenic photo stops during the journey.
