Itinerary

Day 01 Dimapur/Guwahati to Kohima

Upon arrival at Dimapur/Guwahati, our representative will greet you and drive to Kohima the capital of Nagaland. On reaching, check-in at a hotel/heritage homestay. After some refreshment, visit Heirloom Naga Centre, a cultural and craft space showcasing traditional Naga craftsmanship, textiles and indigenous heritage. Later, explore Naga Bazaar, a lively local market where you can browse traditional Naga handicrafts, textiles, local produce and souvenirs. Return to your stay in the evening and take rest.

Day 02 Sightseeing in Kohima - Kohima War Cemetery, Nagaland Museum

Morning after breakfast, start our Kohima tour with a visit to Kohima War Cemetery. It is a war memorial built and maintained by Commonwealth War Graves Commission in the memory of soldiers who lost their lives in World War - II by the invading Japanese forces.
Later, visit the Kohima Museum, which offers an insight into Nagaland’s diverse tribal cultures, traditional lifestyles, costumes and artefacts. Continue to the Kohima Cathedral, one of the city’s prominent landmarks, known for its distinctive architecture and peaceful hilltop setting.

In the evening proceed to Khonoma village and spend the night in a cosy homestay and experience authentic Naga tribal food.

Day 03 Khonoma Green village tour

Today morning we will explore Khonoma green village and go for a walk around the village and explore the traditional way of life of the Angami Naga villages, including the historic forts and traditional Morungs (community houses) of Khonoma. Learn about Khonoma’s role in the British–Naga colonial history, including the resistance of the Angami Nagas to British expansion in the region.
Later visit the rice field and see the jhum cultivation, a traditional form of shifting agriculture practiced by Naga communities.
After spending a happening day proceed to a hotel and retire for the day.

Day 04 Drive to Touphema tourist village via Kisama

Today morning proceed to Kisama Heritage village, explore traditional tribal houses(Morung) and pay a visit to the World War II Museum which preserves the history of the Battle of Kohima through wartime photographs, artefacts and exhibits, offering an insight into the important role the region played during World War II. After that proceed to Touphema tourist village, a traditional Naga village-style resort offering an opportunity to experience local architecture, culture and the warm hospitality of the Naga people. Spend the night at Touphema.

Day 05 Drive to Jorhat: the cultural capital of Assam

Early morning after breakfast start towards Jorhat district of Assam (160 km) which takes around 5-6 hours. On reaching check-in at a hotel/tea bungalow. In the evening visit nearing Tea Estate.

Day 06 Drive to Mon(Nagaland) : the home of Konyak Naga

Today morning after breakfast we will be driven to Mon(146 km from Jorhat) one of the most exciting destination in our Nagaland travel packages.
Enroute we will visit the historical city Sivasagar and watch the ancient heritage of Assam. We stop at few important monuments constructed during Ahom dynasty during 1500- 1700 century. We start with Rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar, Shiva Doul and Sivasagar Tank. Shiva Doul - is a 17th century Shiva temple famous for its tallest dome. Said to be one of tallest Shiva temple in Asia and Sivasagar Tank(Bor Pukhri) is a vast tank constructed during Ahom dynasty in the 17th century. Post that proceed to Mon town the home of last known head hunters.

Day 07 Trip to Longwa village: Meet tattooed headhunters of Longwa village

Today we visit Longwa village and meet the Chief(Angh) and his family. Longwa Village(42km), is the biggest village in the Mon district - the abode of Konyak Naga tribes. This village is located on the international border of India and Myanmar (Burma). An amazing fact about the village is that one part of its chief's (Angh's) house is located in India and another part in Myanmar. You will see traditional thatched roof houses and houses decorated with the skulls of animals here. You can purchase shawls and traditional jewellery made by the villagers and the chief's wife.

When you arrive in the village, go on a walking tour. Make your way to Chef's(Angh's) domicile and stay in a traditional homestay embellished with antique artifacts and wooden sculptures. In the afternoon, return to your homestay/resort in Mon Town and rest for the night.

Day 08 Explore Hongphoi village: meet Konyak tribe of Mon district

Today we will visit another traditional village near Mon where you can meet many tattooed head hunters. It takes around 2 hours to reach the Hongphoi village. On reaching, we head to Chef's place, have a chat, and take photographs of them. Walk around the village and visit the Morung. In the afternoon, return to hotel and relax for the night.

In the evening return to hotel and rest for the night.

Day 09 Drive to Dibrugarh: the Tea City of India

After breakfast drive to Dibrugarh town located in Assam(110 km) which takes around 6-7 hours depending on road condition. We can also change the departure location to Jorhat or Guwahati according to your convenience. Reach Dibrugarh in the evening and check-in at a hotel and call it a day.

Day 10 Departure from Dibrugarh

Today is the last day of our tour. With a heavy heart, we bid adieu to you and our representative will transfer you to Dibrugarh airport or rail station for onward journey.
