7 days Meghalaya tour itinerary

Day 01 Guwahati to Shillong (100km/3hrs)

On the first day of our 7 days Meghalaya tour upon arrival at Guwahati, a representative from Nexplore will meet you and welcome you. After that, we take you to Shillong, known as the Scotland of East which takes around 3 hrs. Shillong will be your host for the first day of the tour. Enroute take a short tea break at Barapani lake(Umiam Lake). On reaching Shillong check-in at hotel and take some rest.

Day 02 Shillong

Today you will visit the most famous attractions in Shillong. Start with a visit to Ward's lake then Shillong cathedral, Don Bosco Museum and proceed to most beautiful masterpiece on earth the Laitlum canyon. It takes around 2 hrs to reach this place from Shillong city. Spend some quality time enjoying the fresh air at Laitlum canyon. You can also go trekking down the stairs and observe the stunning surrounding closely.
Return back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 03 Shillong to Cherrapunji (54km/2hrs)

Today after breakfast drive to Cherrapunji, one of the mystical regions on earth also acclaimed as the place with the highest rainfall in the world. Enroute visit Elephant Falls. On reaching visit Mawkdok Dympep Valley, Nohkalikai Falls, Arwah cave, Mawsmai cave and Nohsngithiang Falls or Seven sister falls, Eco Park etc.
You can also enjoy delicious Maggie and tea as well as buy a catchy souvenir in the small market complex located near the Mawsmai cave. After a whole day of sightseeing return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 04 Sightseeing in Cherrapunji

Today is the most exciting day in your 7 days Meghalaya tour. You can go for trekking in the Double decker root bridge and enjoy the stunning root bridge and the small footbridges over giggling stems, green forest and beautiful villages. To see the double decker root bridge you need to go down around 3500 steps. The trek takes around 6 - 7 hrs to complete for a novice. It's a moderate track except senior citizens and children below age 10 anyone can try it. You can also visit Rainbow falls which is further 1 hour trek.
Return to resort in the evening and take rest.

Highlight: Double Decker Root Bridge

Day 05 Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong and Dawki (81km/3hrs)

Today you will visit the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong village. Apart from the wonderful Nohwet living root bridge(Jingmaham Living Root Bridge) located nearby you can also experience climbing in a skywalk and have some traditional lunch in a homestay in the village.
Post lunch visit Dawki a small town located on the south-eastern border of India and Bangladesh. Dawki is renowned for crystal clear waters where everything seems to be floating from the top. After a full day of enjoyment night stay at Mawlynnong/Dawki.
Note: Dawki is a hub of water sports in Meghalaya. If you want to enjoy various activities like Scuba diving, Snorkeling etc. then you can spend the night in a camp at Dawki.

Day 06 Mawlynnong village to Krangshuri falls (62km/2 hours) - Guwahati(180km/5 hours)

Today, embark on an exciting journey to West Jaintia Hills, where you'll explore some of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Meghalaya. After breakfast, proceed to the mesmerizing Krang Shuri Falls, known for its crystal-clear blue waters and scenic beauty. Here, you can enjoy various activities and soak in the serene surroundings. If time permits, take a thrilling trek to Phi Phi Falls, a hidden gem that requires 1-2 hours to reach. Later in the afternoon, we begin our return journey to Guwahati, concluding an unforgettable Meghalaya adventure.

Day 07 Guwahati - Departure

Today is the last day of your 7 days Meghalaya tour. Post breakfast drops you at Guwahati railway station/ Airport for your onwards journey.

Month wise deails:

Winter (October to February): This is the best time for various adventure activities in Meghalya like trekking, exploring caves etc. The weather is cool and pleasant (5°C - 15°C), making it ideal for visiting places like Shillong, Cherrapunji and Dawki. This is the best season to experience crystal clear water in Dawki river.

Summer (March to May): The temperature remains moderate (15°C - 25°C), making it a good time to visit for nature lovers. This is a great season for visiting waterfalls.

Monsoon (June to September): Meghalaya receives heavy rainfall, making it perfect for witnessing its famous waterfalls at their best.

If you visit in winter then woollen garments are a must. However, the winter temperature doesn't drop below 0-degree celsius so one of two heavy to moderate woollen is fine.

Apart from this always carry light woollen, a raincoat, an umbrella and comfortable shoes when you visit Meghalaya.
