7 days Meghalaya tour itinerary
Day 01 Guwahati to Shillong (100km/3hrs)
On the first day of our 7 days Meghalaya tour upon arrival at Guwahati, a representative from Nexplore will meet you and welcome you. Start your trip with a visit to Maa Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. It is a major Shakti Peetha in India. After that proceed to Shillong, known as the Scotland of East which takes around 3 hrs. Shillong will be your host for the first day of the tour. Enroute take a short tea break at Barapani lake(Umiam Lake). You can enjoy boating and other water sports here at additional cost. On reaching Shillong check-in at hotel and take rest.
Overnight halt at Shillong.
Day 02 Shillong
Today you will visit the most famous attractions in Shillong. Start with a visit to Ward's lake, Shillong cathedral, Lady Hydari Park, Don Bosco Museum and Laitlum canyon. It takes around 2 hr. to reach this place from Shillong city. Spend some quality time enjoying the fresh air at Laitlum canyon. You can also go trekking down the stairs and observe the stunning surrounding closely.
Return back to the hotel in the afternoon.
Please note: If any tourist attractions are closed on the scheduled day of visit, we will not be able to accommodate the visit on an alternative day due to logistical constraints. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this regard.

Day 03 Shillong to Cherrapunji (54km/2hrs)
Today after breakfast drive to Cherrapunji, one of the mystical regions on earth also acclaimed as the place with the highest rainfall in the world. Enroute visit 3 tire waterfall - Elephant Falls. On reaching visit Mawkdok Dympep Valley, Garden of cave, Nohkalikai Falls(highest plunge waterfall in India ), Arwah cave, Mawsmai cave, Nohsngithiang Falls or Seven sister falls, Eco Park etc.
You can also enjoy delicious Maggie and tea as well as buy a catchy souvenir in the small market complex located near the Mawsmai cave. After a whole day of sightseeing return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 04 Sightseeing in Cherrapunji
Today is the most exciting day in your 7 days Meghalaya tour. You can go for trekking in the Double decker root bridge and enjoy the stunning root bridge and the small footbridges over giggling stems, green forest and beautiful villages. To see the double decker root bridge you need to go down around 3500 steps. The trek takes around 6 - 7 hrs. to complete for a novice. It's a moderate track except senior citizens and children below age 10 anyone can try it. You can also visit Rainbow falls and Blue lagoon by trekking.
Return to resort in the evening and take rest.
Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.
Highlight: Double Decker Root Bridge
Day 05 Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong and Dawki (81km/3hrs)
Today you will visit the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong village. On reaching explore the village and go for a short trek to theNohwet living root bridge (Jingmaham Living Root Bridge). It is single decker bridge located nearby. You can experience climbing in a skywalk and have some traditional lunch in a homestay in the village.
Post lunch visit Dawki a small town located on the south-eastern border of India and Bangladesh. Dawki river is renowned for crystal clear waters where everything seems to be floating from the top. You can experience boating at Dawki. After a full day of enjoyment night stay at Mawlynnong/Dawki.
Note: Shnongpdeng village located around 8 km from Dawki is a hub of water sports in Meghalaya. If you want to enjoy adventure activities like Scuba diving, Snorkeling, Rafting, Kayaking, rock climbing etc. here and stay in a camp at Shnongpdeng.
Overnight stay at Mawlynnong/Dawki.

Day 06 Shnongpdeng/Dawki to Krangshuri falls (62km/2 hours) - Guwahati(180km/5 hours)
Today early morning enjoy various water activities at Shnongpdeng village. Later proceed to West Jaintia Hills, where you'll explore some of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Meghalaya. Next stop at Krang Shuri Falls, known for its crystal-clear blue waters and scenic beauty. Here, you can enjoy various activities like boating and swimming etc or soak in the serene surroundings. If time permits, take a thrilling trek to Phi Phi Falls, a hidden gem that requires around 3 hours. Later in the afternoon, proceed to Shillong and enjoy a peaceful night.

Highlight: Krang Shuri falls Shnongpdeng village
Day 07 Shillong - Guwahati - Departure
Today is the last day of your 7 days Meghalaya tour. Post breakfast visit Mawphlang Sacred Forest and explore the forest with a local guide. Post that return back to Guwahati and we will drop you at Guwahati railway station/ airport for your onwards journey concluding an unforgettable Meghalaya journey.

Winter (October to February): This is the best time for various adventure activities in Meghalaya like trekking, exploring caves etc. The weather is cool and pleasant (5°C - 15°C), making it ideal for visiting places like Shillong, Cherrapunji and Dawki. This is the best season to experience crystal clear water in Dawki river.
Summer (March to May): The temperature remains moderate (15°C - 25°C), making it a good time to visit for nature lovers. This is a great season for visiting waterfalls.
Monsoon (June to September): Meghalaya receives heavy rainfall, making it perfect for witnessing its famous waterfalls at their best.

We went to 5 days Assam tour with Nexplore. We booked this trip last minute (~week prior) and were immediately helped with scheduling tours of the Kaziranga park and major attractions. It was great all around
My son and I had a great wildlife trip in Northeast India organized by Nexplore Travel. In Assam we went to four National Parks. We saw elephants, rhinos, water buffalo, monkeys etc. It was great all around. Our driver was perfect. Flawless travel.
