Day 1:Arrival in Guwahati – Journey to Shillong
Your journey begins on arrival in Guwahati, where our representative warmly welcomes you. Start your experience with a visit to the sacred Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered spiritual sites in India.
After seeking blessings, drive towards Shillong, the charming hill capital of Meghalaya. En route, stop at the scenic Umiam Lake, a vast reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills—perfect for photography and relaxation.
Arrive in Shillong and unwind for the evening.

Day 2:Explore Shillong & Laitlum Canyon
After breakfast, explore Shillong’s colonial charm and cultural highlights. Visit the Don Bosco Museum to understand Northeast India’s diverse tribal heritage. Enjoy a peaceful walk around Ward’s Lake and Lady Hydari Park, followed by a visit to the Cathedral of Mary.
Later, head to the breathtaking Laitlum Canyon, offering panoramic views of rolling hills and deep valleys—one of Meghalaya’s most photogenic landscapes.
In the evening, explore Police Bazaar for local shopping and street food.

Day 3:Shillong to Cherrapunji - Waterfalls & Caves ( 54km/2 hours)
Today, travel to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on earth. Begin with a visit to Elephant Falls, followed by the stunning Mawkdok Valley viewpoint.
Explore the fascinating Arwah Cave and the famous Mawsmai Cave with its limestone formations. Continue to Eco Park for sweeping valley views, and witness the majestic Nohkalikai Falls and Seven Sisters Falls.
Arrive in Cherrapunji and relax amidst nature.

Day 4:Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong & Dawki – Clean Village & Crystal River (80.4 km/2.5 hours) - Shillong(81 km/3 hours)
After breakfast, head towards Mawlynnong, known as Asia’s cleanest village. Walk through beautifully maintained pathways and enjoy views from the Skywalk. Take a short trek to the stunning living root bridge, a remarkable example of sustainable bio-engineering by local Khasi tribes.
Continue to Dawki a small village located at the India–Bangladesh border which is famous for crystal clear water of Dawki river. On reaching, enjoy boating on the Umngot River—one of the most unique experiences in Northeast India. Post that return back to Shillong by evening.

Day 5:Shillong - Kaziranga National Park (265 Km/ 5.5 - 6 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the one-horned rhinoceros. It is one of the largest wildlife Sanctuary in India and home to large number of birds and mammals. Check into your wildlife resort and relax amidst the natural surroundings.

Day 6:Wildlife safari at Kaziranga
Start your day with an early morning elephant safari through the grasslands—an unforgettable wildlife experience. After that return to your resort for breakfast and after some relaxation visit Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park to explore Assam’s rich flora, traditional food and culture. In the afternoon enjoy a jeep safari in the western range to spot rhinos, elephants, wild buffalo, and exotic birdlife. In the evening enjoy a traditional cultural performance in the Orchid Park.

Day 7: Kaziranga to Majuli island (140 Km/ 4 - 5 hours, 1 hour ferry ride)
After breakfast, drive to Jorhat and head to the nearest port to cross the mighty Brahmaputra River and reach Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island. It takes approximately 1 hour to traverse the mighty Brahmaputra by ferry. On reaching Majuli, check into a traditional cottage and spend the evening exploring the serene rural surroundings.

Day 8: Cultural and tribal interaction in Majuli island
Today is dedicated to exploring Majuli’s rich cultural heritage. Visit ancient Satras (monasteries) such as Auniati, Garmur and Mask markers satra Samaguri, which preserve the Neo-Vaishnavite traditions of Assam.
Experience traditional mask-making art, interact with the Mishing tribal community, and explore pottery villages. Enjoy birdwatching and witness a beautiful sunset over the Brahmaputra.

Day 9:Return to Guwahati
After breakfast, return to Guwahati. Check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, you may enjoy an optional sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River (subject to time).

Day 10: Departure from Guwahati
After morning breakfast at hotel, begin your day with a visit to Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, which takes around 2 hours to complete. The trip involves a free ride of 30 minutes through the Brahmaputra River. After that if time permits, visit the Assam State Museum or the Guwahati Ropeway. We will transfer you to the airport in the afternoon for your onward journey, ensuring you leave with unforgettable memories of Northeast India.

It was great all around
My son and I had a great wildlife trip in Northeast India organized by Nexplore Travel. In Assam we went to four National Parks. We saw elephants, rhinos, water buffalo, monkeys etc. It was great all around. Our driver was perfect. Flawless travel.
