Hornbill Festival tour Itinerary 5 Days/4 Nights

Day 01 Guwahati to Kohima/Arrival at Dimapur and drive to Kohima (343km/7-8 hrs)

Upon your arrival at the Dimapur Airport or Railway Station, you’ll be greeted by our representative. From there, embark on a picturesque drive to Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland nestled in the Naga Hills at an altitude of 1,444 meters. Enroute visit Diezephe Craft Village and admire and buy woodcarving, craft and handloom by local artisan.
The journey takes about 4 hours. Upon arrival, check in at a hotel/ homestay. In the evening, stroll through local markets and enjoy and taste different Naga foods like fish, Snail , bamboo shoot pickles, smoked meat, and millet cookies etc.

Day 02 Full Day at Hornbill Festival

Today we will visit Kisama Heritage village and enjoy Hornbill Festival whole day. Please note that the festival commence from 1-10th December every year. It is one of India’s grandest and most colorful tribal festivals, often called the "Festival of Festivals." Participated by all major tribes of Nagaland and Northeast India.

Get ready to witness:

Day 03 Kohima Local Sightseeing

After breakfast at hotel go for sightseeing tour in the heart of Kohima city.

Today we explore -
  • Kohima War Cemetery – A beautifully maintained tribute to the soldiers who died in the Battle of Kohima during WW II.
  • Nagaland State Museum – A must-visit to understand the customs, attire, and heritage of the Naga tribes.
  • Kohima Cathedral – One of the largest cathedrals in the Northeast, known for its impressive architecture and serene ambiance.
  • Local Market – Witness everyday life, buy traditional spices, pickles, woollen garments etc.
If time permits see the tank during world war -II and go for a hiking in the Puliebadze. Spend your evening at leisure or opt for another quick visit to the Hornbill Festival ground to enjoy any missed activities or shop for souvenirs.

Day 04 Day Trip to Khonoma Village

On the day 4 of our Hornbill Festival tour you can visit historic and eco-friendly Khonoma Green Village, located about 20 km from Kohima. Khonoma is inhabited by the Angami tribe and is known for its rich cultural heritage and sustainable living. On reaching explore the village on foot and return to Kohima by evening and unwind at your hotel.

Highlight of Khonoma Green village -
  • Visit to the Khonoma Forts which are build during the battles against the British in 1879
  • Enjoy walking in the stone paths and wonder at the beautiful views of the village and terrace rice field.

Day 05 Kohima to Dimapur/Guwahati

On the last day of the Nagaland Hornbill Festival tour, bid farewell to the enchanting land of Nagaland. We drive back to Dimapur for your return train or flight. Alternatively, if you're continuing your journey, we can assist in planning a transfer to Guwahati. With a heavy heart bid adieu to Nagaland and conclude your 5 days Hornbill Festival tour.

RESERVATION TERMS

  • Confirmation of Tour Package is subject to the remittance of 50% of the total tour cost in advance and rest to be paid prior to the commencing of the tour so as to reconfirm all the arrangements on definite arrival basis.
  • Slight alterations in the accommodation may become unavoidable due to unavailability of rooms in mentioned hotels, but the accommodation so provided will be of the same class.
  • Child below 5 yrs stay complimentary.
  • CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
  • 30 days before the commencement of the tour: 10% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • 15 days before the commencement of the tour: 25% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • Less than 15 days before the commencement of the tour: 50% of the tour cost will be levied.
  • Less than 07 days before the commencement of the tour: 100% of the tour cost will be levied. No refund is entitled "for no-shows".

ENTRY FORMALITIES

Indian Nationals require Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Nagaland and we need at 4 working days to collect the ILP.
Document required for ILP:
  1. Valid Indian Passport/Attested copy of the Driving license
  2. 04 Passport size photograph

FOREIGNERS

Foreign nationals are not required any Entry Permit to visit Nagaland. But they have to register themselves in the Foreigner's Registration Office (District Superintendent of Police) within 24 hours of their entry in Nagaland.
