Bomdila is a charming hill station situated on the lap of Himalayan mountain ranges, The landscape at a height of about 8000 ft. is served as the headquarter of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. It offers brilliant landscape and pristine snow-capped view of Himalayan range. Winding hilly road and picturesque hills on both side of the road with small building and shops are the typical impression of Bomdila.

Besides located on the way from Tezpur to Tawang, Bomdila also has an important significance in the Tibetan culture and heritage. Spent a day here to treat yourself with a divine experience of Buddhist Gompas and the magnificent view of the Kameng Valley. The view of roaming clouds at the top of the Nechipu Pass can be easily seen from Bomdila View Point. You can see Apple Orchids spreads in yards amidst the scenic beauty of Bomdila.

Sessa Orchid Sanctuary located on the way from Tezpur to Bomdila is another place worth a visit. Which houses around 1000 different varieties of Orchids. Spend time in the pleasant atmosphere amidst the bouquet of orchids is a pleasant experience.

Located around 6 hrs drive from Guwahati city it is a small historical town. Bomdila also marks a significant point in the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

The Losar Festival, the New Year festival of the Monpa tribe is celebrated here in the early March. Do not miss the festivities while on your visit!.

If you love Tibetian food Bomdila doesn't disappoint you. You can eat some special Tibetian and Chinese dish like Momo and Thukapa as well as simple India rice, Dal. Sabji. chicken etc. Don't forget to test Kiwi and homegrown vegetables here.

How to reach Bomdila

By Air

The nearest airport to Bomdila is at Tezpur, which is located at a distance of 300 km. The airport at Tezpur is connected to Kolkata and Silchar by weekly flights. By Railways

Bomdila does not have its own railway station and the nearest railway station is at North Lakhimpur(Assam), which is located at a distance of 118km. Which is connected by Arunachal Express from New Bongaigaon via Guwahti. Another major railhead is Guwahati railway station which is well connected to the Major cities of India.

By Road

State Transport buses are available to Bomdila from Itanagar and Laxhimpur(Assam). Tata sumos are also available from Itanagar (320 km), Lakhimpur (310 km) and Daporijo (168 km).
