How to reach Ziro valley

Reaching Ziro Valley in Arunachal Pradesh is an adventure in itself, offering travelers a journey through scenic landscapes and remote areas of Northeast India. The most common way to reach Ziro is by road from Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. From Itanagar, a picturesque drive of approximately 105 kilometers leads to Ziro, winding through valleys, forests, and hills, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.

By Road

State Transport buses are available to Ziro from Itanagar, Guwahati and Lakhimpur. Daily night bus service is available to Ziro from Guwahati which generally starts at 6 pm from ISBT Guwahati. Tata sumos are also available from Itanagar, Lakhimpur and Daporijo.

There are several roads leads to reach Ziro valley.

Ziro form Itanagar :

From Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh one road goes via Naharlagun and another vis Yupia. The journey usually takes an around 4 - 5 hours. Which leads through scenic valley on both sides.

From Guwahati:

The nearest route to reach Ziro from Guwahati is via Yupia. Which is a new road constructed recently and it has comparatively less traffic.

From Lakhimpur:

You can reach Ziro from Lakhimpur via Kimin.

From Doimukh:

Located at a driving distance of 90 km, reaching Ziro from Doimukh is quite easy. Take NH 229 and head north towards Ziro.

From Daporijo:

Nestled beautifully on the south of Daporijo, the distance from these two scenic places are 168km which can be covered in 6 - 7 hrs by hilly road which are in bad shape in some places. NH 229 is the only motorable road which connects Ziro to Daporijio.

By Railways

The nearest railhead is located at Naharlagun, which is located at a distance of 105km from Hapoli, the central place of Ziro. You can hire a cab from Naharlagun to reach Ziro. Another nearing rail station is located at Harmoti (North Lakhimpur), which is located at a distance of 118km.
Guwahati to ziro train service Arunachal Express is available from New Bongaigaon to both the stations.

Another major railhead is Guwahati railway station which is well connected with all the Major cities of India.

By Air

For those traveling by air, the nearest airport to Ziro is Itanagar airport. Another nearest airports are Lilabari Airport and Tezpur Airport in Assam. From both the airports, travelers can hire private cab and taxis to reach Ziro, enjoying panoramic views along the way. The airport at Tezpur is connected to Kolkata(Calcutta) and Silchar by weekly flights.
