Mythologically, Khasis are said to have walked 'Khat-ar Snem Lynti' or twelve years of walking before settling down in the Khasi hills. Hilly cities are great for walking. Walk down the narrow lanes & stripe walkway with trees and pavements and coffee shops around. A great place to hangout and reach by foot is the beautiful Lady Hydari Park, which houses a small zoo and colourful flowers and orchids is a pleasant experience. It was while walking that you will notice, beautiful woman's wearing colourful traditional dress known as 'Jensen' selling traditional art & craft, seasonal fruits, koi and other local items, dominance of Maruti 800 on the roads & little ice cream parlours everywhere.
