This park is a safe haven for the great Indian one-horned rhinoceros<\/strong>. Besides these majestic animals, a healthy amount of tigers<\/strong> also thrive inside the park\u2019s boundaries. Though tiger sightings are very rare, one can spot a tiger in some favourable times.<\/p>\n

Bird watchers are also rewarded with over 100 species of several local and migratory birds making their pit stop inside the national park.<\/p>\n

This is the only place in India where you can spot the mother and baby rhinos playing in mud puddles. Kaziranga\u00a0National Park\u00a0<\/strong>is a nature lovers’ dream. \u00a0The abundance and diversity of flora and fauna are truly magnificent.<\/p>\n

Backpackers making their way to the national park never leave dispirited as the vistas on offer are diverse, ranging from a large number of lakes, ponds, marshlands, streams & grasslands to dense tropical forests.\u00a0 Travellers getting to Kaziranga can plan a 2 or 3-day trip as there is so much to explore inside the park.<\/p>\n

How to reach Kaziranga National Park?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The best and cheapest option to reach Kaziranga is by following the NH-37, State-owned and private buses are available from Guwahati and other regions of Assam.\u00a0 Regular bus services are available from the interstate bus terminus in Guwahati. It is a 5-hour journey to Kaziranga and you can get down at Kohora(central gate- Kaziranga National Park<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

State transport buses are available from Guwahati to Kaziranga, which cost around Rs 500.\u00a0 If you want a comfortable seat on the front side, it’s better to pre-book your bus ticket. You can also hire a private cab to Kaziranga at around Rs 7000 – Rs 8000 per day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Several airports are nearby, but your best bet would be to fly down to the LGB international airport at Guwahati (217 kilometres away) and take public transportation to reach Kaziranga.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The nearest railway station is at a distance of 75 kilometres from the National Park in Furkating railway station, located at Golaghat town. There is no direct bus or shared taxi available from Furkating to Kaziranga.<\/p>\n

Sightseeing and Safaris in Kaziranga<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kazirna has a large wildlife diversity. The One-Horned Rhino takes centre stage here; it is the only place in India where this majestic animal thrives. Rhino calves playing amongst the wet grass and mud puddles are a great sight to the traveller. Besides the rhinos, a large population of elephants and tigers are also present inside the Kaziranga National Park<\/strong>. The Asiatic water buffalo and the swamp deer are among the various other attractions of the national park<\/p>\n

The park is home to 450 species of birds, and 100 of migratory birds make their short halts inside the national park, some of which come from the far eastern corners of Siberia.<\/p>\n

You can go on bird trails, boat cruises near the riverside during your stay.<\/p>\n

The park provides regular Jeep Safari and Elephant safari into the national park. These safaris are the perfect occasion to see the rhinos in their environment, slowly burning time and playing with their calves.<\/p>\n

Tickets can be booked from the range offices nearest to you and usually require you to wake up early to get to the range offices within the specified time.<\/p>\n

Safari season and timing in Kaziranga National Park<\/h3>\n

Jeep Safari in\u00a0Kaziranga National Park <\/strong>is open from the mid of October to the 15th<\/sup> of May.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Elephant safari generally starts on 15th November<\/strong>\u00a0when roads inside the parks are properly open after the flood is over inside\u00a0 Kaziranga.\u00a0 Elephant Safari continues and lasts till 30th April every year.\u00a0 Safari starts in the early morning hours and continues for an hour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kaziranga National Park safari<\/strong> begins from the range offices & starts at 5:00 am in the morning and goes on until 7:00 AM.<\/p>\n

The Kaziranga National Park<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>remains open from the 1st<\/sup> of November to the end of April. The tropical climate means that it is very hot and humid during the months of April and May.\u00a0 Sometimes these periods change based on the weather. The best time to travel is December-January<\/strong> with moderate temperatures and cold nights.<\/p>\n

Due to visitors\u2019 safety, it is recommended not to travel in the monsoon months, as the Brahmaputra often floods its banks.<\/p>\n
