Located at a distance of 50 km from Shillong, Cherrapunji, the wettest place on the planet earth, is a lush green valley covered with enchanting hills, majestic waterfalls, caves and canyons, painted with mist all around. Cherrpunji is also known as Sohra. Natures marvel the Double Decker living root bridge is the elite attraction here. Tracking from the entry point to the leaving root bridge is an exhilarating experience. Some of the thrilling waterfalls in Northeast is located in Cherrapunji. Some of them are 1,000 ft Nohsngithiang Falls, The Dain Thlen falls, seven sisters falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Cherrapunji is also known for its limestone caves and orange honey.

Umiam or Barapani lake is located in the Shillong- Guwahati highway is a picturesque lake surrounded by green hills. Enjoying the changing color of clouds during the day is a mesmerizing experience. One can go for a boat ride or a stroll on its green banks. It is also a favourite picnic spot during winter. Lunch at RI KynJai resort and indulges yourself in water sport is a pleasant experience. It Harber a sports complex that provides various water sports like rowboats, paddleboats, cruise boats, sailing boats, water scooters and speed boats etc.
Located at a distance of 55 km from Shillong, it is a place with highest rainfalls in the earth. Mawsynram receives an average annual rainfall of 11,872 mm (about 39 feet). It is a heaven for nature lovers for its steep, sliding slopes, fresh air, rolling green mountains and thrilling waterfalls. It is a favourite destination during monsoon. Most of the times it is covered with a carpet of mist. No one can predict the weather here. Ironically, it is said that "rain and sun playing hide and seek" here.

Located at distance of 64 km from Shillong it is a beautiful resort town encircled by the majestic Myntdu river, the home of Jayantia tribes. It is a picturesque hamlet with green hills, beautiful waterfalls and winding lanes. 'Tyrchi Falls' and 'Karang suri' falls are located nearby. Bike riding or travelling through the newly constructed Shillong- Jowai bypass is a breathtaking experience. The beautiful Thadlaskein Lake is located alongside the bypass which is picture perfect location for boating. Nartiang Monoliths, Ialong Park park and U Lum Sunaraja are major attractions here.

Located at a distance of 25 km from Shillong It is a pristine forest covered with Castanopsis kurzii trees and pine tree. This forest is well known for sacred-groves which have been preserved here since time immemorial. Local Khasi people believed it as a sacred place where most Khasian Kings would pray before taking any important decision. Even today local people pray here. Which one can witness by the vermilion coloured stones and tree. It is a dense forest covered with large trees and filled a with fruit and flowers. Many medicinal herbs are also available here. It is advisable to take a guide for exploring the forest.
About 25 km away from Mawsynram, Mawlyngbna is an offbeat destination carrying remarkable significance of prehistoric days. This place is famous for fossils and a natural geyser. Fossils of the animals' way back to 200 million years have been discovered and preserved here. You can also witness scraps and footprints of animals at a place called 'Ka iew Luri Lura' (a marketplace believed to have been run by animals way back in the days, the prints of which are still visible till date).
Pitcher plant and other different rare flora and fauna can be seen here. Trip to the Umkhakoi water reservoir, located nearby is a great scene for adventure lovers. Activities like mountain biking, angling, rafting, Trekking, fly-fishing and, kayaking are available here.
Located at a distance of 95 km from Shillong, Dawki is the border of Meghalaya with Bangladesh. Charming Umngot River flows through Dawki is the main attraction here. It separates the East Khasi Hills District from Jaintia Hills District by creating a boundary between the two. You can witness nearby villagers fishing in the crystal clear green waters of Umngot River. The water of this river is so clear that one can get the clear view of the bottom of the river.
Another predominant landmark of Dawki is the magnificent suspension bridge constructed in 1932 by the British, over the Umngot River. A colorful annual boat race competition is held here during March- April between India and Bangladesh at Umsyiem. Dawki-Tamabil is one of the major border crossing roads between India and Bangladesh. It is used mainly for coal transportation to Bangladesh.

Located at a distance of 90 km. from Shillong, Mawlynnong is a scenic village surround by green trees and vivid, colorful flowers. Mawlynnong is widely regarded as the cleanest village in Asia. It is a community cantered village. Kashi people are very neat and clean by nature. They take very special care for the cleanliness of their home and the surrounding environment.
Some interesting bamboo platforms and bridge are also available here. Village folks have built an elevated platform atop a tree from where you can catch a glimpse of the entire village. Another prominent and age-old, leaving root bridge is also located nearby.
